At my current employer (I am contracting) employees have recently broken (impact on the screen area and base respectively) a Toshiba R100 and Toshiba R200 laptops.... what would be a more rugged solution to the ultra portable type of laptop. I suggested to my boss the Panasonic Toughbook W4 - he liked the idea that it has tough in the name... any other options to ruggedish laptops ?

I think the Panasonic is regarded as the best - BT use it for all their field engineers so they must have something going for them

They ain't that tough, we've used them at work and they were broken just as regularly as normal ones.

But the nature of them means that people will give them more abuse than a regular laptop and expect them to cope. Hence the similar failures.
