I am on eclipse broadband and have no problems.

My uncles though, has just joined and poor guy he has nothing but trouble. I set up the speedtouch 330 modem correctly.

The comptuer dials up, attempts to verify the password (repeatedly) and then says "0721 error"

What can I do about this?

This means serious trouble with the line/eclipse I think...

Already done. Carried the latest drivers from the speedtouch site on my USB and set it up.

What else?

Hmmn bugger.

0721 means remote server not responding, its usually either a driver issue or a problem at the remote end.

Have you spoken to Eclipse?

www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t16620_error_0721 - scroll to the end.

There seem to be a couple of people on there who traced it to the microfilters, does he have them on all the phone sockets and are they all in properly.

Just another possibility.

I'll double check all that. Seems unlikely that that would be the problem though, even though he has one more phone socket downstairs without a micro...

721's are a nightmare to fix. What do eclipse normaly provision their users on, IPstream or Datastream? as the route to fixing/resolving the issue is different.
Other than that, reinstall modem is a good start, what OS? XP I guess otherwise it would be 650
If you have 721 the modem can "see the line" so you should have 2 solid green lights on the 330.
What have Eclipse said? has the line been provisioned correctly have they passed the fault to BT Wholesale? etc...

Hmm, maybe it could be my crappy set up I did with my new wireless router then!

One thing I will say about eclipse, is their helplines are spot on. Had a few problems (not caused by them), each time I have phoned, they have been excellent.
Stupid question, but have you spoken to them?

been with eclipse for years, the odd hassle, but cs/ts good
try bt master socket, filter, router. then either wireless to the pc or long ethernet cables.
The cables around the bt master socket need to be as short as possible
Got a speedtouch modem but it is the 510, ie 4 ethernet ports and none of the

All my phones runn off the phone cable that has micro filters, eg bt socket. i used to have a long phone extension cable to the pc, which was main cause of problems, this pc is at end of a 55m cat5 cable run and works fine. had loads of errors on the end of a 10 metre phone cable

Please phone cs/ts and open a ticket in his user account on the eclipse site
