Is it just me or is the Internet a bit flakey today (and over the last few days), random connection problems to certain pages not loading like www.pistonheads.com for one and even google.co.uk

Now this has been happening over the last few days since I installed XP SP2. I know......I know......idiot that I am....but I only installed it to be able to update MS Antispyware (now Windows defender). I have turned to Windows firewall off as I use a DG834GT wireless router.

Anyone else having connection/time out problems before I start looking at problems specifically on this PC? Would a reinstall of SP2 perhaps be the first cause of action?

(I had 2 timeouts just trying tp post this message )

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.pistonheads.com.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

have a look in the router status page (if you dont know how to log into it just ask)

see what line speed you are synched at on the internet/WAN/ADSL port

your exchange may be going through the upgrade to BT MAX 8MB service and you will get 10 days of crap service whilst the ADSL modem and the DSLAM in the exchange figure out what the best line rate is for you....lots and lots of people having this problem at the moment.....

Could be I guess.

I'm set at 1152 kbps downstream.
