Using a different PC, i have just seen the strangest thing in excel. Normally, columns are letters A B C etc and rows are numbers 1 2 3, but on the spreadsheet i have just opened both the columns and rows are numbers? I use excel ALL the time and have never come accross this. Is it a difault setting that needs changing? As you can imagine it's a nightmare to write a formula! HELP

For Excel 2003, Tools - Options - General, uncheck R1C1 reference style, and that should do it.
