I'm looking for a company where i can host five or six domains that can be administered from one account.

I need to get web stats for each of the domains and hopefully not spend too many pennies.

Has anyone any suggestions (apart from the obvious) ?

Why not simply go with the obvious

I use ixwebhosting.com.

They seemed cheap to me, and the support from them's been excellent - you can do most things yourself via a browser, but if you need help they have a 24x7 chat style support centre that's very responsive.

Believe they have two mirror sites too, one in the US and one in Austria I think.

I have multiple domains under one account with Register1, all of which give me statistics independant of each other.

What makes you think they don't do what you need?

Because when you start adding up the cost of each seperate domain it starts to get quite expensive

Indeed, about as expensive as providing all the work and statistics for each of the domains

The VDS will happily provide you with stats for itself, for simple 'domain only' accounts at £5.48 a year, the money just isn't there to provide services past the Free web and mail forwarding which we already offer.

We do offer discounts for multiple VDS purchases, another option is to take a Dedicated server.

I don't know that you'll find what you're looking for, as it will require each site to have it's own Apache log for proper statistical analysis.

As indicated, you could always point the additional domains at sub-domains of the VDS Pro and view the stats from that.. but at the end of the day, if you want a service, you'll need to pay the requisite amount for that service, and Register1 is hardly what you'd call expensive

Enjoy.

JB, side question if you may.

In the R1 webalizer reports, where it says number of 404's is there anyway to find out what the request was?

I've followed every link and I cant replicate a 404 anywhere...

/var/log/httpd/error_log

that's what Webalizer processes for the error side of things.. there should be logs going back to when your account was created... inside there you should see ALL the 404 'File does not exist' log entries.

Let me know if you want me to get one of my Support chaps onto it.

Dont forget, it could simply be search engines / spiders / code red / nimbda / random people typing in random URLs which cause it, you might NOT actually have any broken links

You could go for a part-share in a dedicated server. Several PHers rent dedicated servers from Jamie and then sub-let space on them.

I myself have a reseller account with Muncher at www.ip1hosting.net who in turn rents the entire dedicated server from Jamie.

I think I can have up to 20-odd virtual servers in my package and am free to resell any number of them if I wish.

Sounds like you need something similar - you need more than several virtual servers but not enough to justify a dedicated server.

try www.portlandx.com and look at the XL and XS packages. they are all based around cpanel and those two packages include the whm (web host manager) to create seperate web hosting accounts that you control.

I have a reseller account at Heart Internet which costs £30 a month. I currently have over 20 domains running on one account, each domain has their own site (which stats), separate email accounts, databases etc and I can set up a mini control panel if I want to allow the owner to log in themselves and do email admin etc.
