I have my own site at the moment that is nothing more than html tables, and is hosted by my ISP tisacli. I have come across wordpress and want to start blogging, however tiscali say they don't support PHP and MySql.

Is there a free blogging website I can use?

Do wordpress host then, I thought that they just provided the neccessary software.

Register1.net looks good, I thought it was £49 a month when I first saw it....£49 a year isn't too bad, unless I need the Pro version to get wordpress.....do I?

no, you don't need the Pro version. I write my own website which is PHP on the front end, MySQL on the rear

I'm with register 1, signed up for 3 years and get my hosting at £33/year. Result. Very good host as well.

Writing my own website might be a step too far, would look to have the basis of the site already written (or do I use open source?)

I only do html tables at the moment and some flash.

And does having email hosting mean that I can download my domain email it to my PC like I do my tiscali email? (and presumably send it as dangerous@domainname.co.uk, all I have currently is email forwarding)

Yes, it means you have a full email setup.

POP3, IMAP, WebMail, SMTP

You can send and receive from an unlimited number of emailaddress@yourdomain.com via outlook, or Webmail or Thunderbird etc..

The VDS Pro comes with WordPress built in (quick click click install) however you can install it manually on the VDS Standard if you like.

The Pro is only £66 a yr (on the 3-4-2 deal) and comes with a raft of cool toys and features
