Ok I've had messenger for a good few years, has been quite good until recently when all I now get is randon idiots contacting me !!

Can't see any particular settings in my profile that I've changed that broadcast "this bloke needs random idiots to speak to"

It's always been great for chatting to mates & friends who live abroad now it's just a pain the ass.

Any way can I automatically block the idiots? or change a hidden setting somewhere?

Are they people that in previous years you've had on MSN and deleted them or do you mean completely random as in never spoken to before?!

Been getting a few randoms recently too...damn irritating when MSN pops up while the boss is at the desk and it's not even anyone worth talking to

Hmm, none of my randoms have ever shown any knowledge of anything to do with me or my name. You must be listed in some directory somewhere I guess - have you tried asking one where they found your msn details?

My first name is listed but yes it appears there's a "random idiots speak to each other directory" that I don't want to be on. Or MSN broadcasts those on the system. This problem appeared whne I first registered a new messegnger name whne the .co.uk's became avaialable. Ever since then it's got worse. I don't even bother using the .co.uk one any more just switch it on and about 20 of the feckers pop up!!!

When the new person dialogue pops up you can say you don't want to add, and don't want them to see when you're online .. in settings there's a bit that says something like "only people on my allow list can contact me/see when i'm online" .. you can also go and see who's added you to their buddy list too.

You can set an option in Messenger so only people on your "Allow List" can send you messages.

From that conversation, I'd guess that someone with a name similar to yours has recently started using msn (or recently changed address) and is giving out the wrong info. Possibly he is .com and you are .co.uk of the same name? (Try adding the .com version if so, and send him a message)

He is probably sitting there wondering why nobody wants to talk to him
