Tiscali BB...Any Good...
Discussion
A big thumbs-up from me. I used a small company that used to be X-Stream then became Libertysurf and now Tiscali.
I did try other comapanies but always come back to them and would not change now. One good thing I find is that they dont clutter your emails up with their advert crap.
Intresting thing: Try sending an email to yourself using Libertysurf instead of tiscali....it still works.

The only things to watch are:
Contention - In the evening, loads of people near me are on Tiscali, hence the net slows down alot at peak evening time
You can never leave Tiscali - Perhaps an exageration, but they are unable to issue a MAC to enable you to migrate to another ISP...they have dispensation from OFCOM for this, this means that should you want to leave Tiscali, they cancel your Broadband, (takes 5 days), you have to wait for BT to clear your line (takes another 5 days), then your new ISP has to regrade your line (yes, you guessed, takes another 5 days),so if you want to leave them, yo may be without your net access for upto 3 weeks...
I'm with Tiscali, and wanted to leave last year, however, they have improved a bit and I'm not in such a hurry to leave now!
Hope that helps
Chris

But the unlimited isn't really unlimited so don't expect to do loads of filesharing and get away with it...
Tiscali have slapped a fair usage policy on a bloke at work (admittedly a very heavy downloaded) and now cripple his connection at peak times.
Looking for a broadband provider myself at the moment and am tempted by Nildram's DSL Surf package - 2meg with a 50gb peak time monthly peak time limit @ £22.99/month. I'm a heavy user (but not pisstaking...) but don't want to go with anyone who isn't open about their usage policies or who will throttle connections or block ports.

I also got a warning BUT all they requested is that I thottle back during 6pm-11pm so I do that and at the rest of the time downloads are at full speed and I have NEVER had another warning. Perhaps the bloke ignored the warnings are just carried on? Other service providers dont strangle the line they charge you for it.

Got a fair usage warning from Tiscali a while back - took it easy for a while and never heard anything else about it!
You get 3 warning from them then your service has limited bandwidth duriong the peak time 6pm to 11pm. Keep your internet usage to browsing and the occasional download during this period you should not get a warning.
