Hi

A bit of a dumb question this one, but if I have 20 users remotely accessing a Terminal Server (which would be running the applications to be delivered via RDP) and a 'File Server' in the background do I need 20 Windows 2003 Server CALs for both machines or just the Terminal Server?

Thanks,

roadie.

Assuming your Windows CALs are per seat (not per server), then you require just the 20.

Don't forget your TS CAL's as well.

Ah, this is kind of what I was getting at - are Terminal Server licences a different thing then?

Doesn't 2K pro include a TS cal?

Not if its on a 2k3 TS server.

i think if its a 2000 TS server then 2000 pro or XP has the cal by default but if its a 2k3 TS then you need to buy TS cal

More info here and something about fre cals of xp pro licence holders
