To keep it brief, will modern PC's (Say from PC WORLD) between £400 and £500 be easily capable of running the game, GT Legends ?

Sorry for the incredibly stupid question, but there is a good reason for it.

THIS ONE FOR EXAMPLE

GT legends specs say:
Windows XP or 2000
1.3 GHz or greater processor
512 MB of RAM
8X or faster CD/DVD drive
2.5 GB of disk space
64 MB Video Card
Direct X 8.1

To get it running sweetly I'd look for 1024 MB ram, and at least a 128 MB Video Card. So the one you listed would be fine.

The graphics card on that PC is, shall we say, poor.

It also doesn't state whether it is a separate plug-in card, or if it has been integrated on the motherboard. The X200 is a PCI Express card, yet it doesn't state that there are any PCI Express slots. Before you even think of buying it, check that is has a separate graphics card and not an integrated one.

80GB hard drive? I didn't know they even made them that small now!

So, it appears this PC is not too hot? Your input is greatfully received..

A quick go on Dell (.co.uk) gave a very similar spec PC (3100 basic model, similar CPU, same memory, same hard disk) for £480 but with a 19" Flat Panel. The standard on-board graphics will likely be cheap and cheerful, but I would guess similar to the PC World example.

I bought one of these recently with a bit more memory and disk and am happy with it. Am not a gamer though, so haven't really stressed the graphics...

Be warned - that configurator thingy is a right bar steward for restricting your options based on the base model selection and/or bumping up the defaults ! Aim for the same spec from a few different base models and compare them to check what is included or not

What he said, but check out http://Mesh|www.meshcomputers.comas well, and as said, compare prices for different base machines spec'd up.

I'd also look at an AMD machine over an Intel

My advice when buying PC's..

Set a budget, then shop around and get as much as you can for it.. within reason of course!

No no no no no... set a budget, select a base machine for around your budget, spec it up with loads of cool extras you don't really need then cry when the credit card bill arrives

Just to agree with what others have said, if you want to play games then aviod intergrated graphics, although this will most likely push the price north of £500. Have a lookout for PCs with the latest budget offereing from nVidia and ATI which are the GeForce 7300 and the X1300.

This looks pretty good MESH
