Just making my first proper foray into the land of linux.
Setting up a dual boot on my home PC with windows.
I've successfully managed to wipe all my bloody drives.

Typing this whilst re-installing windows and weeping quietly in a corner.

Arse.

Dualboot isnt an option for the uninitiated..

'click here to let linux partition your system'

ie

'click here to let us kill another windows machine'

Is now a good time to mention Restorer2000? You might have been able to get it all back

Or of course, you did make a full backup before fiddling with partitions etc?

I've been through all the "this will recover it for ya" software I could find. No luck.

And I wasn't actully fiddling with partitions on purpose. I was attempting to install it on it's own disk.
It just decided that I meant the Primary not the Secondary drive.

And yes, I have a back up, it's here just behind this note that says "Sod off ya smug git"

If you don't need to dual boot, you should maybe look at VMWare Server which is free and works well. I have my (broken) installations of Ubuntu and Kubuntu as VMWare machines.

But if you relish the challenge of dual-boot, that's fine too...

Thats what makes it worse.
I have a 9 PC setup here (I work from home)
A couple are even redundant.
And I have a VMware server.

I have no excuse other than I wanted to play with it on the PC next to the comfy chair.

Damn that comfy chair.

Yep, and 10 years later, wiser and more experienced, you'll make the same mistake again
