Arghh.. Pop up
Discussion
Currently running the newest version of firefox but when I open up homepage (currently blueyonder) I'm getting a new window opening for partyporker.com. Is this some subversive programme? It is blueyonder? Should I be stoned for not having PH as my home page? I've done a sweep with both Spybot and Ad-aware but no luck. Any ideas folks? TIA!
Just one quick thing to check.
The popup window that appears in the title bar on the left hand most side. What's the icon?
It'll either be a tiny Firefox logo or a white page with a microscopic 'e' in it.
I only ask because that's rather an odd popup to get from an ISP's homepage, "Buy our new wonderful service" yes but something that could be deamed adult highly suspicious IMHO.
If it's an 'e' then go play with Spybot S & D and AdAware as something's gotten in and is messing with Internet Explorer. If it's a firefox logo and it still happens after a Spybot run through I'd actually complain to your ISP about inappropriate popup adverts on their homepage.

Hi passanger. Its a normal Firefox window but without the address bar. The site is partypoker.com. It seems to stop when I moved home page and my thinking was that having a pop up on my ISP home page was inappropriate. Cheers.
Google leads me to suspect it's not your ISP's fault (amazing I know, but hold off on the rant)... looks like you might have picked up a nasty case of AURORA. It's a general spyware/advertising popup thing not read up on it so far but I'll bet it's keyword triggered and something on your ISP's homepage triggers partypoker.com's popup.
It's also apprently a complete and utter barstweard to remove and seems to involve registry hacking... blimey.

I'd try Spybot & Adaware whilst runing in safe mode (keep tapping F8 on boot) before trying those though.
