I'm going insane.

Have a look at www.craigwestturf.co.uk/decking.ht

To me, in Explorer it looks correct, with a graduated green background and logo top left. However in Firefox these items are missing. No matter how many times I upload the files, I can't seem to fix it.

What can you see chaps?

Big Al.

Your HTML is making reference to image files stored on your hard disk, eg:

background="file:///D:/My%20Documents/My%20Webs/Craig%20West%20Turf/CWbglong.jpg"

src="file:///D:/My%20Documents/My%20Webs/Craig%20West%20Turf/CWlogotiny.gif"

Fix these references to point to files on the webserver and you'll probably be OK...

There are also loads of validation errors, see http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=httwww.autograph.uk.com%2FCraigWest%2

Thanks, that would explain it!

But if that's the cause, how come Big Al can see it OK...?

The page was copied/pasted from a similar page and then changed as required - it's a technique I've used many times before without problem. But then I'm rather like a bumblebee when it comes to websites - if I think too hard about it I'll fall out of the sky!

This is bloody weird - how can you see the bg and logo in FF and I can't?

No background or logo in FF.
No background or logo in IE6.

dunno why others can see it but if those two links are pointing to C://<etc> it could be random browser cache stuff being thrown up (or perhaps from an older revision of the page?)

But... how the hell is this working?

This is so illogical it'd make Spock's ears melt... it can't be working.

Reupload the decking.htm file and then try it in FF & IE.

Yep, I arrived at that conclusion too! So I gleefully corrected the two links and reuploaded. No change. Uploaded the whole damn web as well - still no change!

Still shows D:// for the location of the files though, hence the problem persists. I'd suggest opening the .htm in notepad and avoiding Frontpage for this edit.

Someone at Microsoft should be shot for building FrontPage so badly.

It's all working now - the last revision where I corrected the paths took some time to propagate.

I know FP is not as graceful to the HTML experts as other programmes, but I can work it (well usually!) and it enables me to make a few badly-needed £.

So thanks PHers, you did it again
