My old 17" TFT started playing up, lines flickering on the screen making it unusable and as it was out of warranty I bought a new one as I needed to use it. Having got a new one I had a play with the old one and found that it still works, but takes upto 5 minutes for the flickering to disappear and make it usable again.

Anyone had this problem and fixed it somehow? I quite like having 2 monitors so it would be good to fix this one properly.

Jebus, that's right buggered isn't it?

Depending on how old and which brand it is you might find it's still under waranty (my old LG 17" TFT had like a 3yr waranty on it), you might be able to get it repaired as it does 'eventually come back' and it might just be something simple inside (like a dry joint or some such).

I'd guess dry joint - the 5 mins is needed for it to warm up so it makes contact again. Just a hunch though

Friend of mine repairs TVs etc and he says a great deal of faults are due to dry joints.
