Maybe this has been asked before but which is the "best" AV software.

An ad for nod32 in Computer Active suggests that it is heaps better than McAfee, Norton, Kapersky, AVG and Trend.

Can this be factual? I have used Norton and McAfee in the past and got rid of them both for various reasons. I am now using AVG Professional SoHo edition which seems fine though I did have a rogue dialler get through a few weeks ago.

Comparison chart here:

Hmm. Looking at the chart is doesn't seem to be testing itself against Grisoft AVG... or maybe I'm not reading it right.

To be honest, I'd say AVG is the best, it can miss some stuff but they do update it bloody quick (sometimes multiple times in a day). Porn dialers tend to fall in to the category of 'spyware/malware' which AVG SOHO can do... but it's not wonderful at it.

Personally I'd stick with AVG and a decent spyware killer.

Well I always recommend Nod32, it is meant to be the only product that hasn't missed anything in something like 7 years, easy to use, scan pretty quickly, lowest overhead and only about £27.

[supermanII]All Kneel before NOD!![/supermanII]

I think NOD is allright, effective and lightweight. Also does a good job of killing spyware as well as just viruses.
