Anyone on PH have any experience with creating unattended installs for Office 2003?

I have a problem I need some help with,

I am trying to create an unattended install for Office 2003, I have used the ORK to create an MST file, and the test install I did worked perfectly.
However... for the test install, I included the office product key.
But, as we purchase OEM copies of Office 2003, I can't do this for the final unattended build. I need a build that installs silently (the qb- option works fine for this) but then prompts the user to insert the product key the first time they run office.

Help!!!

You are leaglly not allowed to use unattended installations for OEM's as the image used to build unattended Office installations is only licensed for OLP versions.

The only way around this I found was to simply call the switch from a location on the server, but you can't take advantage of the ORK tools

Bummer as I tried to do this, and finally had to give in.

However, if you have a license for one OLP office, I'm sure that MS won't mind if you have OEM license using the OLP key - as long as its the right version. We do this as some of our laptops are OEM versions.

Neil,

I've researched this bit with MS, apparently you can't do administrative installs with OEM software, but using an MST file to automate the install is OK, as long as you set it up to prompt for a unique product key upon first run.

Ah, well, then I'm not sure.

I suspect it will be along the lines of install office on a test bed, then create the ORK, and this gives you your install?

Within that installation use the ORK tool to change any configs (english, whether you have certain stuff, security etc), and ensure you check the option wherever it is in there...

Only done it a few times, and found it to be a pain, hence going to Admin point installs

Would that I could go to admin installs mate, if we ever join the 21st century and buy Office via licenses I'll cheer

Took me a year and a half to convince our lot...
