Hi,

Just bought a Cherry clicky keyboard which appears to be PS2 only - is there anyway I can get this to work with USB - I have the adaptor but WinXp does not recognise the device?

Thanks, Rob.

Also, my wirless USB mouse has stopped working since I've plugged it in!

Indeed it will work. I am surprised the adaptor doesnt work straight off and I am more surprised you dont have a ps2 port. However the reason it may not be working and it makes your wireless mouse stop working is that you have one of these awful setups where it doesnt infact have two usb ports but one that is split into two! Normally these work fine but occasionally conflicts happen and is probably the case here. Try another usb port if you have one and remember to reboot after plugged in. Failing that put your hand in your pocket and buy a new machine as it sounds like its either too old or too cheap!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh a laptop you say. Well now it all becomes clear. Nearly. Some laptops have problems with external keyboards and can cause no end of problems. There probably should have been a driver with the keyboard so that the USB port can identify it properly and turn off the keyboard on the laptop. There may even be a facility to do this in the control panel on your laptop. Give that a try as its unlikey to be happy with two keyboards running at once. The wireless problems with the keyboard plugged in should also be sorted if you manage to locate a driver for it.

I have connected to my machine at work a USB to two PS2 port splitter (one purple, one green - i.e. one mouse one keyboard) no idea where it came from but should but exactly what you need.
At home I have a card that slots into my laptop to give an addtional 2 USB ports - maybe another solution?

Ahh. A T40, I had one of those work issued they can be a bit tricky with mice and keyboards plugged in to them. If I remember use the bottom port for mouse and top for keyboard seemed to work (or use the ports on a keyboard if it has them), it could be the other way around I admit.
