Dell Lattitude L400
Discussion
Hi
Having a problem with an old Dell L400, gave it to my sister in law to use to get them out of the steam age, working ok and then drops a glass of liquid (as yet unspecified) end result laptop no longer powers up.
Get a spare motherboard / base for it and start swapping screen, top case and keyboard over, laptop now powers up but still no screen.
Try an external screen and nothing on that either, try various things like adding the docking station with screen keyboard, mouse etc, but still getting nothing on screen.
Any other suggestions apart from send her back to the steam age, got an even older slower Tosh Tecra if she keeps this up

Liquid encounter.... nasty.
With a monitor connected try pressing the Fn+F8 key... or whatever key toggles between CRT/LCD display... it's a long shot.
If that doesn't work then I salute your efforts in repair however I'm going to have to say: "It's dead Jim." Household contents insurance so long as it covers accidental damage.
It's time for a new laptop, you might be able to recover the data from this ones HDD though.
