I thought it should be simple to transfer pictures taken from my Samsung D500 phone into my PC with a Blutooth (Dongle) but I must be missing something.
Bought the Bluetooth on e bay (Blutooth only, bubble wrapped, no instructions) plugged it into the USB port and red light came on. Enabled phone to "Bluetooth" - nothing happens.
Not being fully IT literate, what am I missing or not doing, should there be software in the pc (XP)to recognise this or do I need to load something?
Advice appreciated.

Bluetooth on PCs isn't always as simple as it should be. XP has some drivers built in but common opinion is that they cause a lot of problems. Try to find out if the manufacturer of the dongle has a driver of their own (you'll have to remove the XP drivers first).

You'll need the download the drivers for the dongle.
By default Windows doesn't come with a complete bluetooth implimentation built-in; just enough for 3rd party drivers to hook in to.

I have a bluetooth dongle on my PC but can't remeber how I set it up.

Try doing a google search for Blue Soleil as this is how I got my info.

Blue Soleil is a different driver to the Microsoft driver which is useless

sorry I can't help more but I did manage to get my phone, headset for skype and camera all talking.

Thanks guys(and gals)for your replies.
My Bluetooth USB Adapter - to give it its full name on the box, is V1.2 Compliant and USB UHC1/OHC1Spec 2.0 Compliant - whatever all that means.

Iv'e looked at the Blue Soleil site, should I download the Standard version ? I get more nervous nowadays in downloading things in case it corrupts something, it seems to have been my pattern lately and I can't blame everything on Talk talk !

Thanks again.

yes download the blue soleil driver. I wish I could give you more info, but it was a year ago now and I really can't remember how to.

Don't you need to "link" the samsung with your PC - ie seach for enabled devices and connect from the list? Or doesn't your PC appear - in which case you need to somehow set the PC to "broadcast"

Thanks Jinx - nothing appears anywhere either on the mobile or the pc - only the Red light shows on the Bluetooth when plugged in, I think a visit to Carphone Warehouse may be needed.(because of the Samsung phone).Even the Wizard doesn't recognise it on any set up.
