Laptop running XP Home edition.

When I plug it into my network, its starts acting as a DHCP server???? And for some bizzarre reason answers requests faster than the true DHCP server that is 8 wireless links away!

WTF is that about?

I tried looking under the 'services' section of manage my computer and only a DHCP Client service seems to be running.

Anyone?

cheers

Have you got anything for connecting your phone/pda/similar to your machine? Often the transport for these things is TCPIP and they shove a DHCP server into that to make them fly...

...maybe?

Is Internet Connection Sharing enabled?

That has a background DHCP server process...
