After 10yrs of Nokia phones and the last one having "issues" (see below) Orange sent me a Sony Ericcson K800i gratis (not an upgrade) as a replacement. I had that one about 10days and have now done a proper upgrade to the K800i again. (I rang Orange to change tarif and was told if I didnt upgrade at the same time I wouldnt be able to for 15months so who am I to refuse?)

Anyway, the "old" K800i and the "new" one have both done the following on a few occasions. After i've been in low or no signal areas it shows Inactive SIM on the screen. The old one did it once, the new one twice. Now the old Nokia N70 did something similar but just said "connection error" on the screen (hence it being replaced with a different model as its an acknowledged fault). On each of the phones the only way to bring it back is to reboot the phone. Its done this with the 3G on or off, it happens anyway and its really pissing me off.

Has anyone else had this problem with their Orange K800i?

Is it the same sim card in all the phones? or did you replace that aswell when getting your new phones?

I've had that once or twice with my Nokia 7380. The common factor here is that I'm on Orange.

How old is the sim, they changed them about 2-3years ago, more memory feature etc.

Each time i've used to new SIM that came with each phone, so I doubt its that. I'm guessing its the Orange software they put on it.

I started getting that with my K750 a few times. I sent it back to SE who flashed it with updated software and it's been fine since. Could be buggy early software given it's a recent release.

I've just spoken to Sony Ericsson, they've told me that this Inactive SIM issue is common to all networks. So I think i'm going to send this one back and try something else!

Any suggestions?
