I've configured Outlook 2003 in such a way that it can send emails using my GMail account. However, is it possible for me to setup Outlook in such a way that it can download my folder structure and emails (inbox, outbox, etc). Ideally by way of everytime I login, Outlook synchronises with GMail.

Thanks

You can get them to talk to each other but last time I tried to use it it would allow me to send but not recieve mail.

Common problem from my checking, things may have changed though.

I can send and receive Gmail via outlook 2003, but it won't order it in outlook like you have under gmail - goes straight into your inbox. You'd have to set up filters in outlook and the relevant folders.

To enable sending and receiving via outlook 2003:-

Configuring your email client: Outlook 2003

1. Open Outlook 2003.
2. Click the 'Tools' menu, and select 'E-mail Accounts...'
3. Select 'Add a new e-mail account,' and click 'Next.'
4. Choose 'POP3' as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click 'Next.'
5. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:

User Information
Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the 'From:' field of outgoing messages.
Email Address: Enter your full Google Mail email address (username@googlemail.com)

Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.googlemail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.googlemail.com

Login Information
User Name: Enter your Google Mail username (including '@googlemail.com')
Password: Enter your Google Mail password

6. Click 'More Settings...,' and then click the 'Outgoing Server' tab.
7. Tick the box next to 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication,' and select 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server.'
8. Click the 'Advanced' tab, and tick the box next to 'This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)' under 'Incoming Server (POP3).'
9. Tick the box next to 'This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under 'Outgoing Server (SMTP),' and enter '465' in the box next to 'Outgoing server (SMTP):.'
10. Click 'OK.'
11. Click 'Test Account Settings...' After receiving 'Congratulations! All tests completed successfully,' click 'Close.'
12. Click 'Next,' and then click 'Finish.'

* Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in Google Mail? To ensure that Google Mail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click 'Save Changes' on the Google Mail 'Mail Settings' page.

Same here. I have set my Outlook such that it sends via my ISP, and 'collects' eMail from Google.

Unfortunately none of this advice has helped me. To the person who posted instructions: I already did these and they allow me to send mail from Outlook but I can't recieve them in Outlook.

Make sure the 'use SSL' option is ticked, that got me the first time I tried to set it up since its an unusual requirement.
