We have AOL IM at work to communicate with some clients. Does anyone know how I would group myself and a few collegues as a 'group address'? so if a client IM's the group we all see the message? (and I don't mean just a chat room)

Incidently bl**dy websense has blocked web info pages about AOL banghead

Just add each person to your buddy list, when whoever you want to IM is on line you just click on "Buddy Chat".
This sends an invite to all those people to join you in a private chat room. HTH

I am not sure it is possible. I think it is up to the sender to determine who receives the IM and unless you each have a name, and the client sends it to all names, possibly as part of a group then ut will only go to one name.

The alternative AOL product which may work is Groups although I'd need to look at it more closely.

There is a new Corporate AIM tool in beta which seems to offer the functionality, or Gaim seems to sort of offer it.

I read that but does that include a private room(as opposed to public chatroom)? In a private room only the people invited see what is said, you could open it and leave it running. Only a suggestion.

to clarify - Not chatroom at all really.

Basically the client sends one instant message to one address and it's recieved by numerous people, so if I'm not there, someone else replies. Asking a client to create a chat room himself is not a viable option.

There must be a macro function someone has written... monitoring your IM...

any message received from X is automatically sent by the macro to the team..
