Guys,

Whenever I click onto Internet explorer, the home page sets itself to www.safetyhomepage.net/ and it's driving me nuts.

I imagine that this is spyware of some sort but can anybody advise please and how to get rid.

I've tried using both Adaware and cCleaner and it's still there.

Incidentally, was attacked my I think it was spyquake lastnight and Adaware cleared it.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Ney probs Big Fella, let us know if it works, there're a few other options that I read about should that fail.

Good luck

Joolz,

Didn't work I'm afraid.

Came up with the following message;

Cannot delete isamonitor.exe
Access is denied
Make sure that the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Not being particularly technically minded, this means nothing to me!

Once again, any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
BF

As GreenLandy says, alternatively try and stop that process (isamonitor.exe) first and then try and delete.

To do that CTRL + ALT + DELETE to fire up Task Manager, then goto Processes tab, find the little bleeder and "End Process" it, then try and delete.

Joolz and all,

Tried the following;

1. Starting in safe mode, which didn't work
2. Tried deleting the PCodec file from Program files and it wouldn't allow me
3. Also tried deleting the process isamonitor.exe which didn't work as it kept re-appearing!!

Does anybody have anymore ideas aside from throwing ym laptop pit of the window?!!

Thanks,
BF

I removed this spyware from my Dad's PC at the weekend.

Can't remember the exact process I used, but I followed intructions from this site:

www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/isamonitor.exe-15721.html

In conjunction with HijackThis

And got it sorted relatively quickly.

There are others on this forum who are far better than me with Spyware, and will probably be able to guide you through the process quicker.

Do you mean safe mode didn't work or it didn't work trying to delete stuff in safe mode?

Check the registry for any traces of the file before trying to delete anything. If there is a registry entry then it will keep coming back.

Alas, tried again to delete in safe mode and it appears to have finally zapped it and so thank you all for your help and advice.
