Question for the passenger

ok, screen and keyboard good, but everytime I go back I have to open up laptop and press F4 for new ( as opposed to laptop screen) to work; is there another quick fix I can use so that I can avoid this.

I guess you mean Fn+F4 to tell the machine to swap from LCD to CRT output?
If you can get it in time try taking the machine in to it's BIOS hopefully their will be a setting to tell it which to use as default or a "bring them all up" option.
