I travel abroad often with work and was wondering if there is any way I can get fast enough internet connection through a phone line to use something like skype video or ichat for mac.

Are onspeed any good for this kind of thing. They recon a 10x speed increase for dial up.

ichat for mac seems to require 100kbps connection up/down for video.
Skype video just says broadband is best.

Thanks

Nope onspeed compresses stuff, ie images, via their server.

Wouldn't be suitable for iChat, sorry.

Thanks so you really need broadband for either to work?

Yes, you'll still need the connection speed.

With onspeed you're pretty much just viewing a compressed version of the net.

Wireless hotspots would probably be your best solution.

If your phone has bluetooth and 3G capabilities, you might be able to use that for `net. Prices vary but the speed when going flat out isn't all that bad 34Kbs so low end broadband speed.

Onspeed is a compression proxie so useful for saving your bandwidth bill but won't affect msn/ichat/etc.
