That wretched Msft boot-up tune

Is it possible to disable the stupid musical fanfare that Windows plays when it starts up (without having to remember to mute all sound before shutting the PC down)?

p.s. in case anyone else has the same XP Pro install as mine, it was very slightly different Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio devices -> Sounds -> scroll down to Windows: Start Windows and then select (none)
