We've just moved house, a distance of about 100 metres. I called BT a couple of weeks back to arrange moving the phone line, and they asked if I'd like them to inform my broadband provider at the same time - I said yes. Come the move this weekend the phone was transferred fine, but the broadband wasn't. BT says all is fine. I try and get hold of Plus.net today and get endless automated phone menus. I get infuriated. I used the net at work to look at their website and find all kinds of stuff about it taking 10 business days to move the connection, and there being a charge in excess of £50. So, BT appear to have let me down, Plus.net are giving me the run around and haven't returned my call within 8 hours as their voicemail system promised.

I'm ready to ditch plus.net, my other half likes the look of the BT Home Hub. Anyone got any recommendation/tips for avoiding more grief? mad

Change to Nildram. I did years ago after being with BT. I'd never go back.

I had exactly the same problem, BT said they could automate, plus.net had no idea what was going on..

BT & Plus.net right royally f**ked up on mine and I managed to get them to give me a refund, although this only happened after being without ADSL for 2 months!

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Plus.net have 'issues' currently - rather looks like they've gone after the mass-market in a greedy way, leaving behind the loyal customers who enjoyed their good customer service behind.

It's taken two months to sort out a fault with my adsl. BT seem moderately professional in comparison.

Agreed, i'd go Nildram or Zen.

I'm with Zen and their customer service is outstanding. They send you all the settings you could ever need within 2 hours of signing up and usually your connection is live at midnight on the 4th day (the earliest time allowed by BT). Most companies get you live in 7-10 days, if you're lucky.

Never had any problems with them, never been disconnected or had interupted supply and their speed is consistently good.

You pay a little more than the mainstream ISP's, but its less than BT with bigger usage allowance and much better service than anyone else. IMO, its worth paying that bit extra for the hassle free broadband.
