Just moving to a new install, got Outlook 2003 but I've had a few odd things happen (spurious undeleteable mailbox folders) when I use my old '2000 .pst file in '2003.

Anything I should be aware of?

MS changed the file format to unicode for 2003 and onwards PST files. This may be the cause of the errors, but I've not seen problems like this before, unless you were approaching the upper file size limit.

Remove your old .PST file, create a new 2K3 one and import?

It's a bit weird.

It's not a big pst file, but it has SpamBayes created "Junk E-mail" and "Junk Suspects". On loading it into 2k3 I had a "Junk E-mail" folder and also a "Junk E-mail1" folder with a red "no entry" type logo on it which I couldn't delete.

All I can think is that 2k3 has it by default (or Macafee antispam creates it by default as that is installed) and it gets a bit upset about another one being there...

I guess importing is the way ahead, but just a bit confused to why it is happening. I did a test import and it seems OK althought the "Junk E-mail" folder still has the red logo on it which seems odd; it was just a normal folder in 2k.

With a caveat to import folder by folder avoiding the SpamBayes folder. I would even consider temporarily deinstalling SpamBayes until you're happy and then retraining it. You could import the contents of the old SpamBayes folder to retrain it once it's all working.

I'l see you your importing the old one and raise you a ScanPST first...

(Its in something like c: program files common files system msmapi 1033 - use it to check the PST file for corruption)

I'll raise you a SpamBayes... I've had this very problem myself as they both create a junk mail folder and Outlook throws a bit of a hissy fit

Rev, the reason is, because Eddie Van Halen is living inside your PST file.

You need some dog's milk and a meat-flavoured tatty mush, and he'll soon come out of hiding.

Then he'll sing you a song about daffodils, how nice.

That's some nice work, boys.

Sounds like SpamBayes is the problem, will import folder by folder

Got there in the end Had to erase the outlook profile and start again as Outlook had got its knickers in a twist rolleyes

Is it normal that the 2003 pst file is 38MB even though the 2000 pst file I imported into it was only 28MB?

Be glad that Eddie only takes up 10mb! He's lost a lot of weight...
