£15k budget to develop some software drivers... anyone?

Im not entirely sure, but I got the impression its 3 months or more. The client said they couldnt wait 6 months for the current guy they had lined up to start. Providing the developer was suitable for the job, and could start "soonish" the client would likely be very happy.
Is the device documented, or is it a reverse engineering job?

£15k is about two month's work full-time at a reasonable rate. What are his thoughts on support/maintenance etc..?
To be honest, I dont know, although a maintance package would certainly need to be factored into the equation. I asked him to send me the bare bones basic brief/overview, which I would pass on to people who might be able to do the work. Id be happiest having little or nothing to do with the project, maybe just a commission
and decided to post hoping that maybe a PHer who does have the skills required might benefit from it.Hi Rob
I've just emailed you on this subject. As per my email, one of our developers has first-hand experience of writing device drivers and seems, based on the information we have at the moment, to be ideal for this work. Our other senior developer has a Master's degree in Microprocessor Engineer IIRC and used to be a games programmer so is also good at this kind of thing.
We'd expect to pay a commission for any work referred to us by a third party. We work on a sliding scale - one beer for each £1,000 of work.
roadie.

ps - Ive just confirmed with client that he hopes 3 months dev time for the windows software drivers would be ok, 6 months max.

I part own a UK Machine Vision Integrator company and we have this type of work done on a regular basis. I'd be happy to put you directly in touch with one of our sub-contractor developers who has significant experience in this field
Send me an email through PH

Jesus liked bread. God loves jesus. Jesus hated fights. Therefore breadfights of any kind are against god, and are therefore evil. As a holy man and ordained priest, in ever quest to prevent fights I shall therefore offer the contract to he who offereth me the highest commission YHM - just incase you don't get the mail through PH, please include me on the distribution.

Hi Ron
Did anything come of this in the end? I'm not giving you a nudge, just concerned any email may not have got through.
Cheers,
roadie.
Firstly, I have not received the specification overview yet. I was expecting an executive summary of the project to start off with. Did anything come of this in the end? I'm not giving you a nudge, just concerned any email may not have got through.
Cheers,
roadie.
Secondly, I have received no emails from anyone on this thread
Ted reckons the email glitch may have something to do with my BT spam filters, not sure yet. Its probably easiest for me to email everyone the spec at the same time, so I'll do that when I get it... if you do reply to me and dont get a response then let me know.
