e-mails from your own address

wondering if anyone can help.
Keep getting some mails from someone but the address they are using is mine? how do they do that and how do i stop it?

It's spam I'm affraid.

Nothing you can do about it other than perhaps add a filter set to delete anything that arrives with a From: address of yours... that *might* work.

They simply set the FROM name and address in outlook (or whatever mail client they use) to be yours (or whatever they feel like)

You cant.. they're able to type in whatever they like..

you could try legal action, but in all honesty, i don't expect anything to happen.

If they use your address as the reply to, then you will get the mail not them (spammers do this on purpose to throw most noobies of the correct scent for complaints)

This is the internet we live with.

I was amazed at how easy it is to send an e-mail from someone else's address, you just have to change the details in Outlook. I had great fun the other week forwarding Viagra spam to a colleague using his wife's e-mail address, with little comments added from her for better effect. He was pretty sure it was me having a laugh, but for a while he really thought his wife was forwarding him e-mails with suggestions to help with his little problem....
