Word help

Went to open up a file and all the text has turned into little squares. all new files are ok just a small range of files that just wont open properly.

Any Ideas?

Corrupt file or the text format is not recognised/changed. Was the file saved under a different version of word?

Missing font?

Possibly Different Alphabet e.g. Chinese and the additional language pack isn't installed.

For the font try Ctrl+a and then change the font.

Other than that could be file corruption.

Others have good stuff.

Out of interest has the file been opened by any other program or perhaps a much newer version of Word? Strange things can happen when a newer version of Word gets a hold of a really old document and converts it to the newer format.
