Hi,
I'm after some advice for changing from FrontPage to create a new version of my wife's website www.justcakes.org

I put it together using an older version of FrontPage and we were happy with it whilst the business was a bit of a hobby, but she's now looking to build up the business as a full time occupation and we're thinking about getting something more professional looking. I've got a newer version of FrontPage now and it's managed to break some of the links/not use quite the same layout as previously.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to FrontPage that would be easy for a novice to pick up? Preferably free/very cheap as cost is definitely an issue until the business gets established.

If anyone was willing to spare a little time to let me know what they would improve on the site at the same time that would be great! Personally, I'm thinking of keeping the thumbnails but open the large picture in a new window.
Many thanks

I use a package called TopStyle Pro

Simple to use and some great features, it isnt visual though, like Frontpage.

Best advice I can give is to buy a book on HTML.

Seriously. An hour or two of reading about how it works will save you many days of yelling at the screen whilst Frontpage/HoTMetaL/Interdev/Visual Web Developer etc carks it right up for you.

You used to be able to download VWD from the Microsoft site for free - you might still be able to...gives you a LOT more control - but you *will* have to learn about HTML.

Agreed. With the right knowledge, you can generate pages with very little code indeed.

Thanks for your help, I've been wondering about getting into it more seriously than playing with Frontpage, looks like this will be the incentive.
