I've got a WinTV Go+ card in my PC, however it runs a crappy 88x chip which Vista or most media centres don't support. So, I want to upgrade to a PVR-150 MCE as I can pick one up for €35 which is a bargain however it doesn't come with a remote.

So....my question is this. Can I keep the WinTV Go+ card in my PC at the same time and use the remote control on that card to work with the new card? Or will my PC bodge up with two TV cards in one system? I only intend to use the old card for the remote control hardware and the other for the TV output.

Ta!

Theres an app called Girder that will allow you to control anything with any remote pretty much.

Takes some setting up but will work.

Hmm....but the thing is, everything works now. The remote I have with my WinTV is perfect. I've edited the irremote.ini to control iTunes the way I want, my TV, Media Portal, DVD Player and move my mouse around the screen.

I also programmed a little script in BIG letters so I can set my PC to sleep in time increments of 15 minutes plus I've also included an instant shutdown with an abort feature!

I'd really like to keep the Hauppauge remote unless I can bodge the old card in some way to make it work in a USB port? (Why they don't do this in the first place I don't know......)

The MCE cards are built to be used with MCE and the MCE remote.

Not sure you can have it both ways to be honest.

Perhaps one of the none MCE PVR cards will do the job and be compatible with what you want?

I use a PVR-350 (quite an old unit really) and I seem to remember a copy of MCE I aquired was able to do 'stuff' once I'd loaded the drivers on to it and whilst I belive not totally interchangable the 350's remote does use the rinkydink Hauppage control software and the irremote.ini file.

the 150 mce has no provision for IR. the 150 does. you will be able to run 2 cards in one machine, so therefore your IR from the original tv card should still work.
