Dell TFT problem
Discussion
Could be anything from a dry joint to a blown tube.
Try turning the machine on with the monitor connected and throw as much light as possible on the monitor. Do you see anything? If so then the actual panel is working fine and it's either the doohicky that kick starts the backlight or the backlight tube itself.
If no picture then it could be a dry joint somewhere and the local repair place (maybe even a TV repair place) can fix it.
