PPTP over Motorola SB5100 Cable Modem
Discussion
Hi,
I've tried everything that I can think of, but still no joy with this. I'm trying to get MS PPTP working over Telewest broadband through a Motorola SB5100 modem, but no joy. It comes back with various connection errors, but usually 678, 679 or 720.
I have tried from my PC and my laptop, Windows Firewall both off and on, router SPI/firewall off and on, direct machine connection to the SB5100 (no firewall exists on those units and they have no port blocking config).....no joy. Different VPN software (Cisco) works fine, even with every firewall turned on (but that does connect over port 10000, not 1723).
Two other Blueyonder/Motorola SB5100 modems I have asked to be tested do not allow MS PPTP to connect either.
It's not the Blueyonder/Telewest service either, as I have tried the MS PPTP on two further PCs (in different locations and with different configs, but both WinXP) which connect using Motorola SB4100 modems, and in both instances it works fine. It all seems to come down to the SB5100.
Has anyone got MS PPTP VPNs to work over one of these? Cheers.
