Connecting to Router Config.
Discussion
Back again with a Networking Question
Scenario:
Wireless Router - 192.168.1.99 (DHCP Client ON)
Wired Modem - 192.168.1.1 (DHCP Server ON)
When I try to connect to the Wireless router to perform 'maintainance' it doesn't connect to the settings page.. and instead goes to routerlogin.com, which is netgear.com
Any way I can still get into the configurations for the WiRouter? It looks as though it's because DHCP server has been switched off. If I reset the router to its standard config it works fine!
Dave.

Its not unusual to have a separate modem & router but normally theyd be on different subnets with the router having one internet IP on the interface thats connected to the modem and one 192.168.1.x (for example) IP facing the lan, and the modem maybe having an ip on a different subnet say 192.168.2.x purely so you can connect to it to configure it. if that is the setup youve got but both are on the same subnet that might explain some confusing behaviour? HTH!
Ahh, I remember this old chestnut, the two routers one as modem, one as a sharing device yes?
A few of the wireless devices I've encountered are very fussy about how they'll let you connect to them... they prefer you to appear from a wired connection rather than over the wireless network.
That might explain it, or I could be barking up the wrong tree all together
