Microsoft training in India
Discussion
Hello all,
just wondered if anyone on here has experience of going out to India to undertake study for Microsoft exams. I'm considering doing MCSE with a company called Koenig (who come highly recommended). It's certainly a lot cheaper than doing the equivalent boot camps over here!
If anyone has any experience to share I'd be grateful for a reply...

Having worked with some of these Indian 'IT specialists'... All they know is what is in the MCSE course and they've been trained on. Some of them haven't even touched a PC before.
Take a clothes peg for your nose and plenty of deodorant to hand out.

Call me racist if you like, just my experience
Nice foonote, doesn't make it any less true - how can saying all Indians smell not be racist?
If it offers you any balance, I've worked with a load of stinking english Linux geeks, and a load of pleasant, non smelling Indians in Bangalore.
As far as the course goes, the best training is to buy a book and learn it yourself. It's cheapest, and will train you better. Buy the Microsoft Press books (which are pretty much identical to the course notes) if you must.
All you'll need is a decent PC and a copy of VMWare Server or similar and you'll be able to set up a decent lab.

I'm pretty much self-taught up to this point, however, I don't have time, right now, to continue on that path. What I'm looking for is a fast track to MCSE. I have the experience with the products, I just need to get through the exams.
When I was at that point, I just bought the Exam Cram series of books (which are great), read them, then sat the exams (and passed them all).
Microsoft training courses are frustating at the best of times, but I'd imagine one carried out by someone speaking a 2nd language in a foreign country would be more so.
D
Not worth it.
Having heard reports from Bangalore of the people who were sent out to hand their jobs over.
The place is nice if you stick to the business parks... although a few shanty towns appear ever so often in them. It has a rather unique odour as someone else has suggested.
More fundermentally I wouldn't trust the MCSE training or the authenticity of the certificate issued, I've seen plenty of MCSE's, CCNA, Sun certified, AIX certified people who honestly hadn't touched a computer before or didn't know basic unix commands like rm.
