I would say simple LAN (or wireless) cards in each PC and internet sharing set up on the main pc.

your correct, although the BT wireless router I'Ve just bought this morning

is asking for both my pasword and username,
neither of which I know
so i'll have to contact BT on monday morning.

I assume you mean when you point a browser at the IP address of the router?

What model is it?

I have had a little experience with BT for some of our workers.

The BT username is normally firstname.lastname@btbroadband.com and there is no password normally for BT connections.

Some routers insist a password is entered but BT normally ignore this, previously when this has been the case I have typed anything in the password box.

Sorry,

I should have clarified where you are stuck. Is it with logging in or configuring the router?

My suggestion was for configuring the router where as UpTheIron was talking about the initial logging in.

Correct, and default username/password is likely to be admin/admin...failing that, try admin/password

Couple of days in a question.

The wireless router appears to work perfectly but,
there appears no provision for altering security settings.

It more or less worked out of the box,
apart from the above setting cock up, and there's no icon or shotrcut anywhere.

The only setting available, appear to be at the dongle/reciever end
on spare PC, so they arent' relevant
although appear like this

It looks like theres no security turned on there, you'l be wanting it on to stop your freeloading neighbours using your connection. Do the step 6 biz above, then to go 'advanced configuration' - it will be somewhere in there.
