Device Manager Question?

I am trying, for the thousanth time, to get my PDA recognised by my PC! I have been told to delete it from the device manager but when I open it nothing is shown excet the top level home PC icon. I cannot sem to get all of my devices listed! It used to show all the connections but now they have dissapeared? Any ideas?

Press the + button at the side of the computer icon.

Not possible as it has dissapeared with everyhting else! Even scanning fro hardwear changes doesn't reset anything!

try View>Devices by type

Tried that, even tried showing resources but to no avail, I just cannot get it to display any connections at all!
