Assuming you are your own administrator on your "network", shouldn't you be able to get it from the network itself? I've got that daft Orange Wanadoo box, and I can.

Try a hard reboot on the route - there should be a master reset button somewhere if it's a Linksys for example.

You'll need to set everything again, but at least you'll get access!!!!

Can you connect via network cable?

If so, Linksys routers will show the wep key used, but not the wpa key. You could also reset it over ethernet if you have to. If it is a Livebox, they helpfully have the wep key on the bottom of the box, unless you changed it yourself...

Anyone know the login details for the Livebox routers? Or do I need to contact Orange?

Yes. Really. Unless you've changed them yourself.

log into both

start, run, cmd <enter>

ipconfig /all

you're looking for something like this

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2

Both machines should look almost identical with just the last number being different..

to connect to each other simply do the following

start
run
\\IPADDRESS (where ip address in this case is 192.168.0.2)

You might be asked to provide a username/password for the machine you're trying to connect TO

you will then be able to see the 'shared folders' of each machine

if you're on windows XP, you can go a step further

\\IPADDRESS\c$

this will connect you to the ROOT of the other machines harddisk, giving you full access to the files and folders.

Enjoy

Not just XP, any version of 'NT' from 4 up to XP will do the same. Never tried it but NT 4 used to share all HDD's and partitions in a similar manner, so if you knew how the box was laid out and had the admin password you could get anywhere remotley.

what syntax are you typing (what IPs were displayed on both machines?)

could also be a firewall stopping them

What OS are you running on both machines?

can you ping ipaddresss (where IPaddress is the one ipconfig /all gave you)
