Assuming you are using XP the "New Connection Wizard" should be able to run the ISP referral wizard - you should be able to pick a pay-as-you-go connection from there.

Personal emergency dialup, low contention, as they are mostly DSL providers these days:
Modem Dialup number: 0845 6600971
ISDN Dialup number: 0845 6652141
Username: connect
Password: connect

Ring BT's "Tag Team", 0800 169 0934

They now have a customer facing department.

I work for talktalk so deal with similar cases all day long!

Here's a copy of a letter I sent to Talk Talk recently.

They have got to be the most appauling Company I have ever had the mispleasure of dealing with

TheExession To Talk Talk said:

Sirs,

I am writing to you to express my utter disgust with the manner in which my account with you has been conducted.

Several months ago we had our telephone line upgraded from regular PSTN to an ISDN line. At that time I contacted you by telephone to advise you that I wanted the billing changing from my own personal name into my Company’s name. I was assured that this would be done immediately and yet this action was never undertaken.

Secondly I wish to complain in no uncertain terms that I find it totally unacceptable for us to repeatedly receive your bill through the post AFTER the money has been debited from our bank account. This has, on one occasion caused my account to go overdrawn, the first time this has ever happened to me.

Thirdly, and this is the real crunch. 99% of my business activity requires connection to the Internet. Normally this is provided (at great expense) via a two-way satellite connection. Recently, due to circumstances beyond my control this service has been unavailable and I have had to resort to using the ISDN line for my business activities.

Imagine my horror earlier today to discover that my line has been barred from out going calls. I am utterly livid that you could not even manage a courtesy call to alert me to this issue.

This down time is now costing me in the order of €120 per hour.

I cannot begin to guess how much it is costing my customers’ as I can’t bloody well contact them to find out.

Further, upon trying to contact your Customer Service Department, I find that your 1800 numbers are unreachable from my mobile phone and so I had to drive to a friend’s house in order to use their phone.

I finally contacted your Customer Service Department only to be advised that I have reached the ‘Queue Overflow’.

Despite the urgency of my situation I am told that there is no way I can be put into a queue and I must submit my name and number so that someone may call me back.

When I enquired as to when that might be I’m told ‘Any time in the next 24 to 48 hours’.

This is frankly outrageous, and in my mind utterly unacceptable. If I treated my customers in this manner I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

Needless to say I shall be having nothing more to do with Talk Talk and The Carphone Warehouse and I shall be eagerly advising all of my friends, colleagues and customers of your abhorrent behaviour.

Yours, extremely annoyed.

What amazes me about this debacle is why talktalk imagined, for even a nanosecond, that they would be able to cope with the demand for this service.

TalkTalk are releasing customers now. If they've botched it up... and you can get a human to talk to they will cancel everything and release you from the contract.
