OMG what a difference

If you swap the USB for ethernet cable, it will be even faster (subject to the broadband being faster then the USB speed of course!)
Even if it doesn't the connection will feel faster on ethernet (assuming you have a native ethernet port on the system). USB often has an appriciable overhead on the host system depending on what the device is doing and how well the drivers are written for it.
May have slightly misled you there.
I'm using an RJ45 USB Ethernet 10/100 LAN Network adapter connected from my router RJ45 port with an ethernet cable into my USB2 socket.
Incidently, I want to buy a longer ethernet cable (around 5m) - not gone wireless yet. What sort of cable do I need? There seem to be 2 types, straight and crossed?
Thanks for your help as always!
