I am playing with µTorrent and the donload speeds are slower than slow.
When I do the port checker, it says it is closed. It also says it needs to be open to run fast.
I have a 3 com wireless connect modem router and windows firewall. Windows fw is set to allow µTorrent.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

You need to set up port forwarding on the router as well, what kind of router is it?

Ok, looking through the FAQ for uTorrent it seems to use a similar system to Azureus.
The FAQ is here: www.utorrent.com/faq.php#Why_are_my_torrents_going_so_slow.3F

But to sum up, change the port number the program is using to something not normally associated with bittorrent, say 1001.
Log in to the Modem/Router device (check the manual, it'll probably have a web based interface) and hunt for NAT or Port Forwarding in it's options. Personally I'd wager if you see a tab marked 'Advanced' then they'll be hiding in there.

On the machine that is running uTorrent (assuming Windows) go Start > Run > type 'cmd' > Ok
In the command shell type ipconfig /all and look for IP Address (might start 192.168.) you'll need this to tell the router where to forward the port to.

And basically you tell the router that anything on port X is sent to IP address Y. Again the manual and built-in help system should get you logged in to the device and be enough to help with this.

Use bitcomet and enable upnp if its a upnp aware router.
