Hello all - just thought i'd give this a try.. I'm usually found in general gassing so its my first venture in this forum.

Basically I'm a freelance designer - I'm planning to go back to full time work - Got my eye on a company, and my 'person on the inside' said learn flash and it will help your chances.

Now I'm not exactly a Numpty when it comes to design packages... I used to use Director to a fairly high level a few years back, I've looked at Flash (about 5 years ago!) and didnt get on with it.

If I'm going to make a concerted effort to at least get the basics down - where is the best place to start??? oh, and what version are we upto now, I'm mac based by the way.

Anyone know of a 'learn flash in 24 hours' book that they can recomend?

Cheers

Tripps

I'm not a Flash person (or web developer) but occasionally pick up Flash work or help others out and get projects working. I've found that it is hard to "get" Flash at the best of times, my feeling was it was designed to be utilised from a designers rather than developers perspective.

The best thing to do is start playing really, the books I started with Foundation Flash MX and Foundation ActionScript I found pretty poor, but I'd would recommend the Pocket ActionScript Reference as a handy lookup which you can keep with you.

I'm using MX 2004, not sure if a new version has been released since Adobe bought Macromedia though.
