Sometimes I really hate myself.
This is the result of posting a piccie (probably the iTunes 7 one) here to PH.

Apache has been slapped with a bandwidth controller so it can't go insane but those sustained blue spikes are you lot.

The funniest occurance was the Richard Hammond thread where I posted Hitler playing a banjo. A 38Kb gif file. That gif then went on to use just over a gig and a half of traffic in the space of a month.

PH the Slashdot of the automotive world

Yep. Post a pic on PH and watch your bandwidth get hammered. Then watch for random spikes a few months later when someone has an attack of thread necrophilia or quotes the pic in a new thread. It's quite amusing watching my server logs get taken over by requests from PH.

Only link I've posted that hasn't nuked my uplink was to Kevin Bloody Wilson's song about Santa Claus. I don't think one single person clicked on it. Weird. It was a bit cryptic I guess.

I remember posting about 20 smallish (100kb?) pics from the Gumball start on Pistonheads. Someone nicked them and posted them on M5Board, Gumball board, that weird fat German's board etc etc.

Went through 13gb of bandwidth overnight... yikeshehe

I reckon Ted is going to get bought out by Google soon if he's not careful.

What would the poor lad do with a couple of billion quid?

And nobody has noticed that the picture is updating every 5 - 10min.

I have to admit that I get some really weird things appearing in my logs. Someone searched for "Extreme Pornography" hit my blog which has a article on the UK EP law. Read everything, went through the whole image hosting system, took every download on offer (draft covers for books, synopsis and such) and... never actually left a comment not even a WTF? LAME!

The internet, so many street corners... so many weirdos

You'd need to seriously hammer the keyboard to do that, I think the max you could achive is to show the graph using 250KB/s as Apache is throttles to 50KB/s per child and 5 children.

Hi

As i'm no expert on this subject, does this mean if i post pics on here and others chose to use the image as a desktop background etc that i'll experience slower intenet access.

Nah.. won't affect the speed of your internet access as such, if you are uploading your photos to Photobox or something like that then it will have absolutely no effect upon you at all
It's just when you host them on your own website (or server) when you might have to start worrying about tons of downloads!

You do realise that 1000Gb, is 1Tb, which is about 8mbit in 95th Percentile billing, which even on the shittyest of crappy partial transit will cost around $10 a mbit, so about $80....

so long as you don't ever expect to use it, or even a single figure percentage of it, you're ok but ask yourself, why would anyone ever offering something so obviously unprovisionable.. and do you trust them with your business with that ethos

I've been with them for over 2 years and can't fault them at all. They used to be originally IIRC 10GB a month, but upgraded the service without charge to 100gb last year then upto 750gb now they put the limit at 999gb. I won't ever get close to using it, all their included services and features make it for me.

Transfers are a piece of pi$$, seriosuly easy to handle with minimal / zero downtime.

Costs, from £2.75 a month, I can't call that expensive
