Hi all,

Currently building my first web site in dreamweaver and am trying to host some digi pics that I took but I obviously took them in too higher quality / pixel density as when I pull them into the site they are too big and I cannot resize them.

How do I resize images to be a lower quality so that I can easily host them?

Cheers

Matt

just use an image application

iirc MS Paint allows for resizing, or Paintshop Pro, or Photoshop, or worst case, post the links to them and I'm sure someone (beer) will resize them for you.

Thanks for that I have been trying to resize them in MS Paint but can't seem to find the right function.

Just uploaded them to photobucket which I think automatically resized them to a smaller sizer but now when I try and save them they are saving as bitmap and not jpg and dreamweaver does not seem to want to open a bitmap file....aghh!!

As you may tell I am having a bit of a mare with this.....so frustrating as I had all but finished the site as well.

Here is one of the images, can anyone help?

Cheers

Matt

You'll need something a bit more capable than paint.

Any image processing software should work, something nice and simple but you'll need more than paint.

Paint will open your .bmp and allow you to save as .jpg

50% Size

75% Size

Yeah that's it............nail.....head.............and all that!!

Mind you as a total web novice I am falling from one nightmare into another at the moment, the site is finished (edwardsofsouthampton.com) and I think I have set up the home page correctly but now none of my pages of images will link to it. Don't suppose that is a simple fix? I have read the help guide but cant seem to see a solution, I presume it is because I have no idea how to write HTML (hence the build in Dream weaver) as if I could I would go into the HTML code for the home page and make some amends that would simply re-establish the links?

Question is what do you do if you have no idea how to write / read HTML?

Sorry to be a pain, feel free to ignore me and have a decent weekend and I will sort it next week.

Aberacadabra

Check now.

You'd got all your filenames mixed up and incorrectly cased (case sensetivity is important)

Logo.jpg was uploaded as Logo (no extension) and referenced as Edwards%20logo%20(RGB).jpg

I've fixed them all for you now!

Just to point something out paperbag

edwardsofsouthampton.com works fine in Internet Explorer, but is a bit... 'dodgy' in Firefox.

Dave.

One more photo editing program you might like to investigate is GIMP. It's often considered the poor mans photoshop. Still pretty good for free.

Sorry... I forgot the rolleyes smiley.

We use photoshop, and following a cleanout of iffy software, we have licensed copies of everything... and the photoshop licences cost the equivalent of a small country's GDP!

I read somewhere recently that photoshop is the one of the most pirated peices of software around.
