Hibernate - dissapeared!
Discussion
I havea bit of a weird problem on my Compaq Armada M700 laptop - used to have hibernate enabled, however since updating the display driver (from the Compaq support site) I no longer have hibernate available. I've removed these new display drivers but hibernate is still missing & I've been unable to find a way to re-enable.
This PC is quite old, and with the plethora of virus checkers etc it takes 5 minutes to boot which is a bit excessive but hibernate speeded that up markedly - hence why I'm missing it now.
Any ideas?
thanks,

Start > Control Panel > Power > Advanced and you should see the option to enable/disable hibernate. If it's not present or the Advanced tab doesn't appear then Windows has disabled this fuction for some reason.
As to general performance, depending on what A/V your running putting on something less system intensive like AVG-Free might be a better idea, spyware scan and also is possible running msconfig and disabling any unneeded startup items will help. 5min for booting up is a little excessive.
Sorry - should have explained better - the hibernate tab on power options just isn't there anymore. RTFM shows that Win2000 doesn't support this configuration for hibernate support. This can't be the case as I've used hib for the past four years or so.
Just don't know what to do to get hibernate support re-enabled - is there a reg setting for this?
