Download speeds

Hi all,

I noticed when I was downloading some music in work I was getting 3.95Mb/sec transfer speed. How fast does that make my connection? 10Meg?

Max for 10Mbit is approx 1.2MB/s...so 10Mbit+

easy anser is multiply by 8, 16mbit or so to you.

How many people at work? Downloading stuff at the same time? Proxy server? QOS?

I've downloaded stuff on a 1gbps connection before now and only got 800KB/s on the file transfer.

3.95Mb/sec = 4Mbit

3.95MB/sec = 35mbit

the bB is all important

don't forget, windows is terribly inaccurate at recording speeds for small downloads..

anything < 20 seconds is going to be inaccurate..
