Right going to be moving house in about 3 weeks, currently have normal SKY TV but realy fancy SKY +. Do i take all my box and dish with me?

Also when they come to fit the new stuff can i dictate where and how the wire gets from the dish to the TV. I have a south facing garden which means the dish will be on the back on the house. My lounge and TV point is at the front, anybody got experience of this type of fitting, what will happen with the wire?

Is the SKY multi room worth it and what are your views on SKY +?

Cheers

Take your box with you but leave the dish where it is. When you get to your new place, get them to come out and reinstall (you'll get a new dish/cables and use your current box.

As for cancelling/rejoining, I wanted to do that but the cost of the completely new installation was higher than a reinstal. Best option I found was to drop to their lowest package over those months.

As for the cables, not sure to be honest as anything too tricky could incur further cost. They *have* to do the install (they wouldn't just leave the cables for me to sort), but you might be able to get them to do the instal with a loose cable running through your house (and a bt extra ) then run the cables where you want when they're gone.

Take the box, but leave the dish, they will put a new one in.

With regards to the wires I was in a similar situation in that the dish needed to be on the opposite side of the house to the input point.

With mine they put the cable over the roof. Depends on the installer I guess.

Just make sure they don't tie it to say a drain pipe with cable ties as it splits the cable and lets water in!

Is that safe? I mean just chucking it over the roof.

you can reduce the subscription for exactly the reasons you want down to about 50p a month, nominal sum but it means you get continuation of contract.

Take you Sky box and request a viewing card from ITv for access to freeview, then get a local installer around to install new dish should be no more than £30-£40 but request that he installs a Quad LNB onto the dish, then you should have freeview Sky until finances settle down.

This is my intention when i move. But there is a dish already there so i do not have to worry to much about the installation.

Then you can call sky and subscribe and if you require a Sky+ box you shoul dhave all of the cabling installed from when you moved in. Hence no £100 install charge.

Well i spoke to a local installer today, the same people that did my current house and they said that i would have to pay for a new dish and fitting, but they would fit the wire correctly not just chuck it over the roof. About £60 + materials + VAT if it took no more than an hour is would be around £115 - £120 which i thought was allot.

I then asked about SKY+ and how much that would cost, and as of today with this particular installer the box is FREE so it would cost the same for installation, if i went to SKY they would still charge me for the box.

I am going to speak to sky later after i can get on their website, (bugger at the mo)

If i can get SKY+ fitting and the box for £120 i dont think that is to bad.
